Dr. Manis is a board-eligible oral and maxillofacial surgeon who has pursued an unconventional educational path that has greatly influenced his medical career. He began his academic journey by earning a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During his time at St. John’s, Dr. Manis focused on studying the history of philosophy, mathematics, and science.

This unique educational background provided him with a strong foundation in critical thinking, group discussion, and a broad perspective that he was able to apply throughout his medical studies.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Manis enrolled in a post baccalaureate pre-med program at Harvard University Extension School, further preparing himself for a career in medicine. Following this, he attended Roseman University School of Dentistry in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.

Driven by his own positive experiences with empathetic and caring dentists during his childhood, Dr. Manis developed a passion for oral surgery. Instead of being deterred by dental procedures, these experiences inspired him to pursue specialized training to become a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon. After completing dental school, he embarked on a one-year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University. Subsequently, he relocated to Houston, Texas, where he began his surgical residency and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas at Houston, alongside his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Manis was born in Idaho but grew up in various locations around the country due to his family’s military background. Outside of his professional life, he is a dedicated father of three young children. He enjoys spending his free time engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and camping with his family.
