Board-certified oral surgeon Dr. Kempers has called Boise home since 1999 and continuously provides exemplary care to patients with a variety of oral surgery needs.

About Dr. Kempers

Dr. Kevin Kempers comes from a family of healthcare professionals. As a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Kempers performs the full scope of oral surgery procedures with a special interest in orthognathic surgery. He and Dr. Nelson combined their practices in 2014 to form Whitewater Oral Surgery Group.

Naturally social with a passion for helping others, Dr. Kempers values the relationships he forms with his patients. Patients who come to Dr. Kempers appreciate his straightforward and compassionate manner and trust in his abilities to improve their oral health.

Education and Residency

Dr. Kempers earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Colorado College. He attended dental school at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. After dental school he moved to Philadelphia and began his surgical training. This program allowed him to attend Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his oral surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. As a dual-degree oral surgeon, Dr. Kempers has years of experience safely administering anesthesia, monitoring patients, and designing treatment plans with the best possible outcome


Certifications and Memberships

Dr. Kempers is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). He is a member of the prestigious ABOMS examination committee and has served 10 years as an examiner. He served as Section Editor for three years and also has been a Co-Chair for his section. In this position, he performed yearly examinations and helped design the exam questions. Dr. Kempers is very proud of this distinguished membership and is grateful to further his level of expertise in the oral surgery community through this role. He finds it rewarding to help other surgeons provide the highest level of care to patients.

Dr. Kempers has also served as the Department Chair of Surgical Sub-Specialties and Medical Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery section at St. Luke’s Regional Health System. He is the Past President of the Idaho State Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Southwest Idaho Dental Society (SWIDS).


Outside of Work

When he’s not at work, Dr. Kempers enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys. Together, they love alpine skiing, biking, backpacking, and traveling. He appreciates every patient and considers it an honor and a privilege to provide care for others.
