Meet Devan Munk, DMD

Dr. Devan Munk is a highly skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon dedicated to providing compassionate care to every patient he serves. He is honored to bring his expertise back to his home state of Idaho.

A Commitment to Surgical Excellence

Inspired by the medical field from a young age, Dr. Munk chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an oral surgeon. He is deeply committed to patient advocacy and surgical excellence, ensuring each individual receives the highest standard of treatment and feels supported throughout their journey.

Dr. Munk grew up in Idaho Falls. After spending more than a decade away for his education and training, he is thrilled to return and serve the Treasure Valley community and beyond. This deep-rooted connection fuels his passion for providing expert care with a personal touch.

He has extensive experience in a broad scope of oral surgery, from routine extractions and bone grafting to complex dental implant placement, reconstructive jaw surgery, and trauma surgery, with a particular interest in orthognathic surgery and dental implantology.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Munk serves as an adjunct faculty member with the Idaho State University Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program, where he works closely with dental residents and contributes to the education and mentorship of future dental professionals.

Education & Residency

Dr. Munk completed his undergraduate studies at Utah State University before earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

His surgical training began at MetroHealth Medical Center, a leading Level 1 trauma center in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. During this time, he trained at several prestigious institutions, including:

MedStar Washington Hospital Center (the largest Level 1 trauma center in Washington, D.C.)

  • The Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center
  • Children’s National Hospital (the only pediatric Level 1 trauma center in Washington, D.C.)
  • The National Institutes of Health

This rigorous training encompassed the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Throughout his residency, Dr. Munk was actively involved with the Resident Organization of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, advocating for patients and the specialty at a national level.

Outside the Office

Dr. Munk enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Emily. His hobbies include reading, attending sporting events, traveling, and cooking. He values the balance between his professional and personal life, bringing enthusiasm and dedication to everything he does.
