Meet Scott Manis, DMD, MD
Dr. Scott Manis is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon whose unique path to medicine has profoundly shaped his compassionate approach to patient care. His personal experiences have inspired him to provide the same level of empathy and understanding to every person he treats.
Pursuing Oral Surgery
Dr. Manis’ passion for oral surgery was born from his own dental experiences as a child. He witnessed firsthand how a caring and reassuring dentist could transform a stressful situation into a positive one. Instead of being deterred by dental procedures, these moments inspired him to become a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon so he could offer that same supportive care to others.
His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College, where he studied the history of philosophy, mathematics, and science. This unconventional foundation gave him a strong background in critical thinking and a broad perspective that enriches his medical practice today.
Education & Residency
After his undergraduate studies, Dr. Manis completed a post-baccalaureate pre-med program at Harvard University Extension School. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Roseman University School of Dentistry in Utah.
Driven to achieve the highest level of expertise, he completed a one-year internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Louisiana State University. He then moved to Houston, Texas, for his surgical residency, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Texas at Houston, alongside his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Certifications & Memberships
Dr. Manis is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), reflecting his commitment to advanced training, clinical excellence, and the highest standards of patient care.
He currently serves as Vice President of the Southwest Idaho Dental Society (SWIDS), where he supports professional collaboration and continuing education within the local dental community.
Outside the Office
Dr. Manis was born in Idaho and, due to his family’s military background, grew up in various places around the country. Outside of his professional life, he is a dedicated father to three young children. He loves spending his free time with his family, enjoying outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and camping.
