Meet Kevin G. Kempers, DDS, MD

A board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Kevin Kempers has proudly called Boise home since 1999. He is dedicated to providing exemplary care to every patient, helping them achieve renewed health and confidence through his surgical expertise.

A Commitment to Patient-Centered Care

Following in his family’s footsteps of healthcare professionals, Dr. Kempers was drawn to a career where he could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. As a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon, he performs the full scope of oral surgery, with a special interest in orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery. In 2014, he and Dr. Nelson united their practices to form Whitewater Dental Implants & Oral Surgery, building a team founded on shared values of compassion and excellence.

Dr. Kempers is known for his straightforward and empathetic approach. He values the trusting relationships he builds with his patients, who feel reassured by his ability to guide them on their journey to improved oral health.

Education & Residency

Dr. Kempers earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Colorado College before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Following dental school, he moved to Philadelphia to begin his surgical training. This comprehensive program included attending the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.

He completed his oral surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As a dual-degree surgeon, Dr. Kempers has years of extensive training in safely administering anesthesia, monitoring patients, and designing personalized treatment plans that ensure the best possible outcomes.

Certifications & Memberships

Dr. Kempers is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). His commitment to advancing the field is demonstrated by his 10-year service as an examiner for the prestigious ABOMS examination committee, where he also served as Section Editor and Co-Chair. In this role, he helped shape the future of oral surgery by performing yearly examinations and designing exam questions, helping fellow surgeons provide the highest standard of care.

His leadership roles have included serving as the Department Chair of Surgical Sub-Specialties and Medical Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery section at St. Luke’s Regional Health System. He is also the Past President of both the Idaho State Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Southwest Idaho Dental Society (SWIDS).

Outside the Office

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Kempers enjoys spending time with his wife and their three boys. Together, they love alpine skiing, biking, backpacking, and traveling. He considers it an honor and a privilege to provide care for others and is grateful for the trust each patient places in him.
