Meet Justin Hastings, DDS, MD
Dr. Justin Hastings is proud to call Idaho’s capital his home. As a board-certified oral surgeon, he serves the community by providing exceptional care and helping his patients achieve positive and lasting results.
A Passion for Restoring
Dr. Hastings discovered his interest in dentistry when a college roommate, a dental student, encouraged him to consider the field. He now finds great fulfillment as a dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon, especially when he can rebuild oral and facial structures to transform lives. Dr. Hastings has a special interest in reconstructive and orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery and is known for his participation in several national and international dental outreach programs.
As an attentive listener and natural problem-solver, Dr. Hastings makes sure his patients feel informed about their treatment and confident in his care. Patients appreciate his dedication to creating treatment plans tailored to their goals.
Education & Residency
A former All-American baseball player, Dr. Hastings continued playing in college, pitching for Cypress College in California, before graduating with a degree in biology from the University of California Santa Barbara. He attended New York University College of Dentistry, graduating at the top of his class. During his time there, he was selected for impactful dental outreach programs in Nicaragua, Grenada, and upstate New York.
Dr. Hastings earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University, followed by a general surgery internship and completion of his oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) residency. This rigorous training provided hands-on experience in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. As a dual-degree surgeon, he is highly qualified to perform a comprehensive range of surgical procedures, administer anesthesia, and treat patients from both dental and medical perspectives.
Certifications & Memberships
Board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), Dr. Hastings upholds the highest standards in patient care, demonstrating continuous training, experience, and expertise in the field. He serves as President-elect of both the Southwest Idaho Dental Society (SWIDS) and the state’s oral surgery society and is the oral surgeon representative on the anesthesia board for Idaho.
Outside the Office
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Hastings loves spending time with his family—where he readily admits his kids typically run the show. Together, they enjoy sports, adventures to lakes and mountains, camping, and exploring all that Idaho has to offer. A skilled handyman, Dr. Hastings has built playhouses, swing sets, sheds, and a chicken coop, embracing every opportunity to create lasting memories with his family.
